Mini Rex Rabbits come in
many colors: Black, Blue, Blue-Eyed White, Broken Colors, Castor,
Chinchilla, Chocolate, Himalayan, Lilac, Lynx, Opal, Red, Seal, Tortoise, and
White.
Food – Approx 2ozs of feed per day. Our prefered choice is Chudley’s Rabbit Royale .
However this is personal
other people will swear by something different.
Green Food
– Rabbits like to be fed green foods 3-4 times a week. Do not
feed your rabbit lettuce as this acts as a drug to the bunny and will induce
constant sleep.
Water
- Rabbits need access to fresh water at all times. And have hay available
24/7.
Bedding
– Dust extracted wood shaving are best. This
needs to be at least 1 inch thick due to the lack of hair on their hindquarters. This will stop them getting sore.
Housing
– The British Rabbit Council and Governments guidelines recommend that all
rabbit are a minimum of 4 foot long and high enough for the rabbit to stand in.
VERY IMPORTANT - if moving a
rabbit from a hot location to a cold or vice versa, the temperature change can
only be 10 -15 degrees MAX difference or your rabbit could go into temperature
shock. Their blood does not adjust as fast as some other animals, and can
kill them.
Play Time
- Rabbits can be taken from their cage to play outside. It is
recommended keeping them in a small run with a top to keep them safe.
Dogs can cause rabbits to become scared and go into shock and maybe die.
It is best to introduce rabbits to other animals with someone present to assure
no harm will come to either. As for playtime inside, rabbits tend to chew
on things because like rodents their teeth grow continually.
Attitude
- All rabbits have their own personality like cats and dogs. Some like to
be held, some don't. Rabbits WILL NOT bite unless felt threatened.
Maintenance
- Rabbits will need to have to have their claws clipped about once a month, or
foot problems could arise. Pet stores sell rabbit clippers and can explain
how to carry this out. Rex rabbits
do not benefit from brushing. The
best way to groom a Rex is to rub Witch Hazel into your hands and then stroke
the rabbit. This will remove loose
hairs and keep their coat shinny.
We hope you enjoy your rabbit as much as we have enjoyed breeding these rabbits
